The 2018 Sea Robin Showdown is a Photograph-based tournament open to shore, boat, and kayak anglers. The tournament begins at 12:00 AM on Monday, April 16, 2018. Tournament ends at 11:59 PM on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Fish must be caught in the waters of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Massachusetts. Fish must be hooked, fought, and landed by the same Searobin Showdown angler, except that another individual may assist with netting, gaffing, or grabbing the fish. Fish must be landed on a non-electric rod and reel. Fish may not be caught by snagging. Anglers must act in accordance with all State and Federal laws regarding fishing methods, size, season, and creel limits. Angler must be registered for the Searobin Showdown one calendar day before commencing to fish. Photos must be submitted via the submission link at http://searobinshowdown.com/submit/ or submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. (No weigh-ins are required for any Searobin Showdown submissions)
All submissions must include:
-Date of Catch
-Length (from the tip of the snout to the end of the unpinched tail, to the nearest half inch)
-Wingspan (to the nearest half inch) OPTIONAL
-Weight (to the nearest 0.1 lbs) OPTIONAL
-Girth (to the nearest quarter inch) OPTIONAL
-Angler's First Name
-Angler's Last Name
-Angler's Email Address
-A Photograph of the fish that allows for relative approximation of the fish's length
Up to 3 fish can be submitted per angler each week. Submission weeks end at 11:59 PM every Sunday. Anglers must submit photos of their catch by 11:59 PM the Sunday of the week it was caught. Photographs must show the entire fish. All submissions will be assigned points based on length, with random, point-weighted, drawings to select monthly winners. Each inch of fish submitted by the angler for a given monthly period counts as one entry into the drawing. The total number of inches submitted by an angler per month is equal to the number of entries in the monthly prize drawing. Additional prizes may be awarded for significant catches, state records, world records, or exceptional photographs.
We encourage the safe release of Sea Robin, however, if you prefer to keep your Sea Robins for the grill, feel free (following your local laws). If releasing, please minimize the out-of-water time while taking a photo. If you have additional beautiful Sea Robin photos that you would like featured, post them on the 2018 Searobin Showdown Facebook group or email them to email@example.com. Prizes may include fishing related gear, rods, reels, marine electronics, trophies, artwork, and other sea robin related items. The Searobin Showdown Committee reserves the right to disqualify any angler from the tournament. Any angler determined to be submitting false catch data/photographs will be disqualified. Anglers may be limited to receiving only 1 monthly prize. Anglers are eligible to receive both monthly and season-end prizes. Anglers may be responsible for picking up prizes in Middletown, Connecticut, or paying the cost of shipping. Prize winners are responsible for all applicable taxes. The Searobin Showdown is not responsible for replacement of prizes lost during shipment. The Searobin Showdown does not provide any warranty or replacement of prize items (manufacturer warranty may still apply). The Searobin Showdown reserves the right to use a contestant’s image, name, and likeness for promotional purposes, publication, public display, or any other purpose. By submitting an image, you grant The Searobin Showdown and it's sponsors, a nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to publish the images in any format, including but not limited to modification of the image, inclusion in collages, web graphics, physical media, videos, advertisements, clothing, and artwork.
